ABOUT THE SEVEN SEEDS YOGA PROGRAM AT CHANG'E

Seven Seeds Studio began it's life as the original Leslieville yoga studio in 2004. It was opened by Sheila Cullen, a long time resident of the neighborhood, who  felt this would be a wonderful way to bring both her love of yoga and the Leslieville community together in one place. In 2009, the exciting  opportunity arose to bring the yoga program together with the rich disciplines of chinese medicine, massage and pilates at Chang'e studio.
Seven Seeds Yoga Program at Chang’e Studio offers more than a just a place to practice yoga.  Sheila, as well as  the warm and friendly staff at Chang'e and the intimate serene interior create a sanctuary of tranquility where you can disconnect from the hurried and stressful lives of your urban existence to invigorate, replenish, restore and rejuvenate yourself. From the moment you step through the door, you will experience the positive, powerful, and welcoming flow of energy found inside. It is Sheila's intention with like-minded professionally certified instructors to offer the gifts of Hatha yoga in a nurturing and non-judgmental environment by inspiring and guiding all students, step by step on their transformational journey to self-realization, personal harmony, inner peace, and balance, both on and off the mat.
If you can breathe, you can do yoga.
Namasté.

What we offer:
Our Yoga classes are typically composed of alignment based instruction of poses (asana), awareness of breath within the implementation of the poses and final meditation or relaxation, followed by tea. Class size is small, instruction is hands-on, and participation is essential. We have a well equipped inventory of yoga props to allow greater accessibility or modification of the postures.
The yogic philosophical precepts of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, which detail moral and spiritual growth and responsibility, are the underlying foundation of the system. We encourage students of every level to practice regularly between lessons. We offer several levels of classes, each building on the skills and knowledge gained from the previous level. We strongly encourage students, if possible, to practice at the level that suits their practice.
Yoga is not a religion, but a teaching that is over 4,000 years old. Originally the teaching was handed down in an oral tradition from teacher to pupil; from one generation to the next. Seven Seeds Yoga tries to honor this tradition, in an atmosphere that is simple, quiet, and conducive to this learning. This allows yoga to be practiced by any person in any circumstance and condition. Learning is not restricted by health, injury, age, size, or stress level. All that is required is a willingness to learn and a commitment to walk through the door. The essence of this practice is articulated in the sutras:

"Yoga is the settling of the mind into silence. When the mind has settled, we are established in our essential nature which is unbounded Consciousness." Patanjali's Sutras I, 2-3

Yoga has crossed the distance of centuries and spanned the of oceans of the earth. Yoga has known many styles and seen many teachers. Yet in spite of yoga’s antiquity, the simplicity of it teachings remain relevant even today. The instructors of the Seven Seeds Yoga Program come from several different lineages. Within these differences, we have found the common thread of a passion for teaching . We encourage our students to visit different classes and teachers to discern what is right for them at this particular time in their life.
